In this story we follow Lacey and Shawn who have been friends for years and then decide to fake a relationship for reasons (business and family).
Pros: the characters are in their 30s and 40s with successful and accomplished careers (doctor, football coach); no unnecessary drama; no third act break up; the smut
Cons: SO FUCKING SAPPY!!!! CORNY! Earnest. like reading a hallmark movie with excellent sex scenes. The couple had no flaws. The dude used "shucks" in everyday conversation.
The deep, honest conversations they would have about their lives, goals, feelings were just so weird. Maybe it's my cynicism or lack of faith in humanity but those conversations were so over the top and ridiculous. Like Ted Lasso × a billion.
I'm not rating it because I feel bad giving it two stars because I really enjoyed the smut.
