You know that feeling of something sneaking up on you, but each time you look in its direction, nothing is there? That was how I felt the majority of this story. I got genuine goosebumps a few times, just KNOWING that something sinister was lurking, but unable to firmly put my finger on it. The build-up of suspense was subtle yet superb.
As for the ending, I truly didn't see it coming. It was equally terrifying and disturbing to me, and I thought it was a fitting finale. My only wish is that it had been expanded on a bit longer because it happened so fast that I had little time to react.
Overall, this was enjoyable, and I'm so glad I read it. It's the first of my books from this author, but most definitely not the last.
