Surreal, witchy and dream-like, which was my favorite part. The Hempstocks were OP, but even that had a charm to it. Things were kept misterious, as they should.
Old Hempstock was perhaps the only character I liked a bit.
The nameless protagonist is mostly passive, and Lettie is too much of a manic pixie dream girl (although thankfully there was no romance). I couldn't catch a personality for Ginny, if she had one at all. It's clearly not a character-based story. Still, a nice autumnal read.

Moderate: Body horror and Physical abuse
Minor: Animal death and Sexual content
