Amphibian and Other Bodies by Vida Adamczewski
4.0
really solid debut collection that explores the female body and how it affects women’s relationships and existence in our society, and the female body’s connection to nature. i particularly enjoyed amphibian, the codfather, real life, and this is the season male bees are thrown out of the hive.
however this definitely needed another round or two of editing, as there were quite a few glaring errors in the text and formatting that weren’t corrected which were quite distracting. personally i also think some bits here and there could have been refined (e.g. the last 2 pages of now their necks are cracked) and also one or two stories that didn’t click (…dog…). overall i really enjoy the overarching themes of this collection, which is what makes the little mistakes and unpolished areas so frustrating because it makes this book just shy of excellence.
