Patsy by Nicole Dennis-Benn

5.0

I loved this book, it is a character driven book so not much in the way of plot but I loved reading about how both Patsy & Tru's lives are impacted by her choice to leave. At the beginning we think Patsy is an extremely selfish person but as her character develops we learn the reasons why she is the way she is. I loved reading about Jamaican culture and how Patsy adapted to life as an immigrant in New York. There are so many themes explored within this book; immigratuon, religion, sexuality, mental health, racism to name a few. It is another really good choice for a book club.
