This was so cheesy lol. I understand why people enjoy this: the characters are cute, especially the children, with some funny dialogue. I see how this is meant to be a wholesome and comforting read; however, the book initially dragged for me and there were multiple times where the dialogue bothered me. I think listening to the audiobook is why I struggled because I did not like the narrator at all. It sounded like the narrator was talking down to the listener… as if the listener was a child (maybe that was intentional). Because of this, the story read more like a children’s picture book. Something tells me I would have liked this more if I had read the ebook or physical copy but the audiobook was the first thing available for the fable club.
