[b: East|161887|East (East, #1)|Edith Pattou|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1277997811l/161887._SY75_.jpg|2079577] was one of my favorite books growing up, and it’s a book that remains so near and dear to my heart to this day. Hell, [b: East|161887|East (East, #1)|Edith Pattou|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1277997811l/161887._SY75_.jpg|2079577] is the reason I ever picked up ACOTAR back in 2016! So I was incredibly excited years back when Edith Pattou released a sequel, but I put off reading it until I had the proper chance to re-read [b: East|161887|East (East, #1)|Edith Pattou|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1277997811l/161887._SY75_.jpg|2079577]. I was happy to dive back into [b: East|161887|East (East, #1)|Edith Pattou|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1277997811l/161887._SY75_.jpg|2079577] this past January, not only because I loved having the chance to re-read a book that is so special to me, but also because it very much ended up being necessary since I had forgotten so much more than I had thought. (With that said, I cannot recommend a re-read before starting West enough!)
However, once I finished [b: East|161887|East (East, #1)|Edith Pattou|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1277997811l/161887._SY75_.jpg|2079577] and moved onto West, things went downhill pretty fast.
The best scenario I can compare this book to is when you have a CW tv series that is five seasons deep but has eight seasons ordered and doesn’t quite know what to do and how to fill that time, so it just meanders and the plot constantly takes three steps forward, two steps back.West honestly felt so unnecessary and really was just a re-hash of a lot of what we saw in the first book. I did appreciate getting to see more Neddy in this one, and a lot of the scenes between Rose and Charles broke my heart towards the end, but as a whole, this book does not need to exist, I’m sorry.
Star Rating: 3/5 ⭐️
Medium: Audiobook
