Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

4.0

This book was my first read of the year and I am so glad it was. However, I didn’t ‘absolutely love it’ as the many people who recommended it to me did.
I loved the humor and the ‘no nonsense’ attitude of Elizabeth, and especially appreciated the feminist, woman empowering nature of the story too.
But, I felt like this is a very ‘dependable’ book. It had good characters, a good plot, a good message, a good twist, a good ending, and kept the reader enthralled throughout the entire book. In fact, I finished this book in a matter of hours.
However, while this book is one that I would recommend to any reader, it didn’t stick out to me as much as I feel it could have. The ending twist was predictable (at least in my opinion), and the character banter started to get old.
Regardless, I would recommend this book, because while it wasn’t excellent in my eyes, it was very good and I am very glad I read it.
