Rivalling with The Deal and Hannah and Garrett for my favourite Off Campus / Briar U universe book and couple. I love Jake and Brenna.
In this book we follow Brenna Jensen (Briar’s coach’s daughter) and Jake Connelly (Harvard hockey player) as they embark on a fake dating in exchange for a real date scenario to try and help Brenna get her internship through a man who is a huge fan of Jake whilst also being supremely sexist. Along the way the two cannot avoid their chemistry and address it head on which was amazing and they start seeing each other a lot more often and gaining some hot and heavy feelings for each other and I loved every second of their story and it’s build up. I liked the communication (mostly) and loved how it was clearly established that Jake Connelly is, in truth, a lovesick puppy around Brenna Jensen and she is the one in charge. I liked the new dynamics that we saw with the Harvard hockey team and I liked how Brenna stuck up for herself no matter what, with Jake doing the same.
So many moments in this book are absolutely amazing and I just cannot stop gushing over these two. So much so that I cannot even put this book nor my feelings about it into words. A new favourite for sure. Now i just want them to interact with Hannah and Garrett somehow and form a superior moment.
