The Egypt Game
by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
It was fascinating to reread a book I remember adoring from middle or elementary school... and to discover while rereading it, I remember NOTHING about it. I can definitely see why 11 year old me would have loved it. I know it helped spur my love for Ancient Egypt, despite the fact there’s only minimal Egyptian information in these pages (probably really created my love of a mystery novel more than anything). I believe it was assigned reading concurrent with a Social Studies unit on Ancient Egypt (you know, the only time we EVER studied any African history in my public school education). The cast of kids in this book is diverse, and that’s great to see with a publication date of 1967.
