Another review that summarized my feelings:

Here’s how I imagine the writing process for this book: “Hey ChatGPT, can you write a dystopian enemies to lovers novel with the same vibe as Divergent and Fourth Wing. Write it with a YA audience in mind but with extensive sex scenes”.

💯💯💯💯💯💯

This one was as fast food as it comes. All the tropes (fake "enemies" to lovers, forced proximity, sassy 20 year old FMC with insane fighting abilities, broody and intense and massive MMC who is somehow a manly "man" but also a 22 year old boy, some "found family" energy with little depth, etc.) all the predictable twists, very little emotional connection to any of the characters (could not have cared less about anyone dying or almost dying, nor did the spice scenes do anything for me), a big reveal about one of our core characters at the end that was extremely meh...

But I still enjoyed reading it for some reason! And also couldn't wait to finish it and return it on Libby and move onto something else. FW did all the same things, but infinitely better. Next!
