some authors just have such a handle on language. hurston takes you between the most natural dialogue with banter, flirting, jokes that make you smile and then in the next paragraph the most stunning prose. i devoured this.
but i’m literally so peeved that tea cake got BITTEN BY A RABID DOG??? what a terrible end for his character
