I like it. There are some things that make me a bit 'Hmmm' but overall I really like it and I'm kind of in love with that loveable grouch named Roan.

I like this take on shifters - it's a virus and you have absolutely no control* over your shift and when you shift your human intelligence/consciousness completely disapears and you behave just like the cat you shift to. Also, the shifts are hell on the body and depending on which strain (cat) of the virus you got, your life expectancy is greatly reduced - with the tiger strain having the lowest and it's kind of a miracle that your survive the first shift if you get infected with the tiger strain. I wish that there would be some more background on the virus and how everything happened and so on but maybe there will be more on that in the later books. All in all, the way people deal with the virus and infected people reminds me a lot about the AIDS panic...

*Roan seems to develop at least partial control about the shifts and the cat later in the book. This might or might not happend because he's a virus child - a child born with the virus.

I love Roan. He's grouchy. He defies stereotypes. He is such a great and loveable guy. :) But, I fear that there is a lot of heartbreak in his future due to the fact that he loves Paris and Paris has the tiger strain... :/

I like Paris too and his unwavering believe in Roan and what Roan will and is able to do. :)

The stories and the way Roan & Paris worked on their cases have been pretty entertaining. :)
