flaviasantos 's review for:
flower crowns and fearsome things
by Amanda Lovelace
So very disapointed.
Amanda Lovelace for me is always a hit, but this time I felt like her book was rushed (it was indeed shorter than her others). Not only that but most of the poems were too simple, too simplistic, too superficial. I expected to read them on Instagram "you go girl" pages - and imediately forget about them. She tried to talk about abuse and sexism and hurt in a very poor and childish way, very unlike her other pieces. It truly felt like a Pick me, I'm different than other girls, privileged, all american white pumpkin lattes kinda girl sharing her diary.
