Three Women by Lisa Taddeo

dark sad medium-paced

2.0

Taddeo claims to be writing about women’s desires, but actually ends up focusing upon those of men. Considering this, she unsurprisingly comes to zero conclusions regarding women and their desires. She also states how unfortunate it is that we only hear the stories of privileged white women, but makes no effort to counteract that, as she writes only of middle class white women in hetero relationships. I also feel she inappropriately handles the subject of sexual violence, somewhat sensationalising Maggie’s storyline. The book seems to be considered by many as ~uncomfortable~ but in an ~edgy and cool~ way, but I just found it plain uncomfortable.
