Years ago, I'd read the Selection series upon hype from my fellow youth (Middle school? Elementary? idr) & remembered loving it. I've not revisited these physical books, but decided I was sure to like another of the author's newer works upon seeing if she was still writing. Unfortunately, I didn't. The writing lacked depth, or the characters did, or maybe both. I'm sure if I read this when I was young, I'd not feel as disappointed as I did--I was simply not the target audience.
