Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I knew going into this that it was not going to be a new favourite. I bought the entire trilogy back in 2017 before I realized that I really don't enjoy most YA fantasy (or YA in general for the most part). Because I have the whole trilogy and people as a whole seem to all love it, I figured I would give at least the first two books a chance (as I've heard that the second book is considered to be the best in the series)

This is my second attempt with this book. I had previously attempted to physically read this, made it like two paragraphs and could not continue. This time I listened to the audiobook and if I didn't already own the entire trilogy I would have DNF'd it again.

So many people love this, and the premise sounded cool, but it had everything I don't like about YA + adult content (think adult romance). I didn't like Feyre, I have no idea what Tamlin likes about her, also how he treats her made me feel kinda icky. Rhysand at first was not any better and then became vomit-in-my-mouth bad (why do people like him???)

Overall, I ended the book feeling like I should just trust that I know when certain books are not going to match up with my tastes. I mean I'll still give the second book a go, but unless it blows my socks off, I'll end up unhauling all three of them.
