Burntcoat
by Sarah Hall
A lot of sex scenes. None are sexy in any way.
The book is too short to cover all the themes the author tried to fit in. The writing and word choices feel pretentious.
Feels like the author had written several short stories with Edith interacting with someone (Edith and Naomi, Edith and Ali, Edith and Halit, Edith and Karolina, Edith and Jonah). Then bits of each of these stories were cut and pasted into the draft at seeming random. Only once do two of the side characters interact with one another and that ends with one of them getting urinated on by the other. Foul.
