Possibly unpopular opinion: If I hadn't read this on audio, I might have DNF'd it...

Tasked with guarding his best friend's sister, Ava, while his friend, Josh, is abroad, Alex tries to stay at arm's length as he usually does. But, despite his best efforts, brooding and possessive Alex finds himself falling for Ava. Even though he's her brother's best friend, Ava also finds herself falling for Alex. They couldn't be more opposite--he is the literal definition of grumpy, and she is as sunshiny as they come.

The concept was great, but SO many of the lines had me cringing and rolling my eyes. I love a good possessive MMC, but sometimes Alex was just... too much. I do know that the other books in this series are supposed to be better, though, so I'm hoping for some redemption in the next few--especially Twisted Games.

Redeeming qualities? The spice. 🥵 The Chinese-American representation. The brother's best friend trope. Dual POV. Ava herself.
