This last installment of The Queen of the Tearling trilogy was a let-down. The plot became muddy, the characters actions became inconsistent, and the biggest questions were unanswered. Usually when the big questions are unanswered I enjoy pondering the "what ifs" when the book is over, however, this one was just a disappointment. The writing style is still enjoyable, the concept is intriguing, it just went off the rails.

By the end I felt like I was reading a cheap knockoff of The Wizard of Oz.
