Ûļā§ đđĄđ đĢđđđđŠ. karou, a seventeen year old girl living in prague, meets an angel one day when she's out on a mission for her adopted father brimstone. the doors to brimstone's world are suddenly severed and karou discovers that it's the angel, akiva's, fault. akiva also realizes that karou feels extremely similar to the girl he used to be in love with and is determined to find out the truth. both karou and akiva break the wishbone that brimstone had given her and discover that karou is the reincarnated of madrigal, akiva's first love.

â đ¸đŽđŋđŧđ. i love her so bad it's not even funny. she's so freaking cool. i love her artsy vibe and the dyed hair, tattoos, everything about her. she's not a pick-me or anything like that and i so appreciate that. i feel like fantasy fmc's kinda develop that mindset after a while and it was so refreshing to see karou just be normal. her backstory is sososososo sad and i loved her chimaera form tbh. i feel so sad for her now that akiva went and fucking killed brimstone and everyone. :|
â đŽđ¸đļđđŽ. i don't have an opinion on him tbh. i think there was an attempt at character development somewhere along the way but it just wasn't that effective. i can't say that i like him that much but i do think the love he feels for karou is real. i just think that he's too rash and kind of an asshole sometimes.
â đđĩđ˛ đ°đĩđļđēđŽđ˛đŋđŽ. god i loved them so much, especially issa. i think the chimaera species overall is just so interesting and unique and such a great concept for a book. all their magic n stuff too is just so captivating. i was hooked from the first few chapters mostly because i wanted to know what the hell brimstone needed all those teeth for. i just wish they were around more. </3
Ûļā§ đđĄđ đŠđĨđ¨đ. the romance was kinda insta-lovey and it icked me out really bad at first. i understand it now because of their backstory and how their souls are connected n shit, but i wish there had been a better execution of that at first.
i also felt like the ending was just kinda... meh? like the whole bit where we learn about madrigal's life was really cool but then it just abruptly cut off with the whole "brimstone and everyone else in your family are dead" and it was lame. if there had been a bit more elaboration given i think it would have been perfect.
otherwise i LOVED this whole book. i was hooked immediately and i didn't want to put it down at all. the world building was just so phenomenal, the characters were fleshed out so well and the concept of the war between the chimaera and the seraphim was sooooooo good. i truly believe that this had the potential to be a five star read but it fell slightly short which is so disappointing.
Ûļā§ đ¨đ¯đđĢđđĨđĨ đđĄđ¨đŽđ đĄđđŦ. this was a fucking fantastic read and i am so excited for the next two books in this trilogy. i've heard that this was the best one of the three which makes me a little nervous but honestly i think it will all be okay.
