The House of God by Samuel Shem
3.0

Cynical satire of being a doctor in 70s New York. Didn’t love the hypersexualisation of all the female characters/the relentless sex. But it did make me laugh and skewered lots of uncomfortable truths about medical work; the horrific situations you witness, the black humour, guilt, expectations, defence mechanisms, seniors, sacrifices, toll, all v relevant to 2020s NHS….
