I really enjoyed this book. I have been waiting for it for a few years now, and it did not disappoint. Everything about it from the romance to the actual heist plot left me intrigued and wanting to read more. The characters felt so real in the sense that their motivations and desires for going through with the heist were very human. The few chararcters’ POV that we get in this first book are Arthie, Jin, and Flick, and I loved reading every single one of them. The growth that came from each of them throughout the book was satisfying to read. I also like how the main enemy in this book is not the vampires, but political leaders who abuse the power they have gained by doing corrupt things. And the plot twist was really good. I did not see it coming.
The one thing that I wasn’t the biggest fan of was the Arthurian retelling aspect of this book. I just didn’t really feel like there was a need for it. This book could’ve worked without the retelling elements. It didn’t add or take anyway anything from the story, which I feel like retelling should do.
