The Denial of Death
by Ernest Becker
challenging
dark
informative
slow-paced
Reading this book was part privilege, part ordeal. It laid things bare in a way I haven’t encountered often. I could see myself starkly in the book. To face the limits of everything and not lose hope is such a remarkable feat. This is a book that will shake things up. I did not realise how much it would be a book on psychoanalysis. I find myself more receptive to Freud and more in awe of Kierkegaard after this book.
