The River of No Return by Bee Ridgway
4.0

I read a blurb about this book on a blog and had to see what all the raving was about. I love time travel books, and the premise of this one is excellent.

Ms. Ridgway is a talented writer. Her prose is evocative and flowing, and her characters are just flawed and human enough to not be caricatures of themselves (the spinster sister, the sad, orphan girl in castle, the noble Marquess, etc.).

I really liked this novel, I enjoyed the sparks between the main characters and the time travel (well done!) and the complicated plot works out fairly well. However, at about 4/5ths of the way through this novel, I lost a bit of my enthusiasm for it: the things that happen from this point on almost don't fit in with the rest of the demeanor of the book. The wrap up of the novel felt rushed and unsatisfactory, and I'm not a big fan of series books, so I was a tad miffed when I didn't find out what happened with a certain situation. It was seemingly ignored (or being saved for a possible follow up book)by the author. That kept me from giving this novel 5 stars. But don't think I hated it, it was an excellent, fun novel. Just not a re-read for me.
