I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara

This is like a mystery novel! Except creepier and real, not fiction. The amount of work Michelle put into this book is crazy, it really saddened me that she didn’t at least live enough to see the Golden State killer caught. And I also read he’s a former police officer? No words for that.

This was my first true crime book but definitely not the last. Even though this book was well narrated, it was difficult sometimes to keep up with the timelines/victims' names and such. I didn't have the pdf sadly and was only able to get it towards the end. If you're listening to the audiobook, the pdf is important because of the illustrations it features. It can be read without it but it would be a better experience with it. That being said, I don't think my future true crime books will be audiobooks. Sadly, it seems like another thing I can't really get into if I wasn't reading (and the book was good objectively speaking).
