Jennette McCurdy opens up about her troubled life in this tell-all memoir. The central focus, and perhaps root of everything, is her mother. Specifically her mother's role in her rise to fame, and the lasting effects that relationship has had on her life.
I read this as an audiobook, so I'd just like to start by saying that Jennette is a fantastic narrator and there was something very special about getting to hear her thoughts in her own voice. This book was able to make me feel the full range of human emotions. I was laughing, near tears, angry, confused, excited, and so much more at various points in this book. This story was powerful and moving and I'm glad she felt compelled to share it.
I want to warn all readers to take the trigger warnings very seriously. Jennette does not hold back and a lot of content in this book will be triggering for certain audiences. It's important to take care of yourself and your mental health (which is a theme she explores beautifully).
If you are a fan of Jennette this is a must read.
