Showdown by Ted Dekker
Did not finish book.
This was a reread. Or would've been a reread, except I DNF'ed it about three chapters in. This never was my favorite Dekker book, and I was only reading it so I could get to [b:Saint|125959|Saint (Paradise, #2)|Ted Dekker|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1439004991s/125959.jpg|681577], but then I decided I don't want to deal with this again and skipped to Saint anyway. That's partially because Marsuvees Black is less engagingly creepy and more ew-please-no creepy than I remember, partially because the population of the town of Paradise is, honestly, mostly annoying, and partially because I kind of hate Billy.
From what I remember, this isn't a bad book. The weirdness factor is kind of over-the-top, and it doesn't shy away from human depravity, but it's not bad. It's just not for me. Not anymore.
