Cress by Marissa Meyer
5.0
So when I read Cinder I thought it was a nice idea to retell classic princess stories in a Sci-Fi environment but the first book just lacked the excitement factor. But I soon had to realize that this story is, though building slowly, exciting and has all the elements of surprises that are needed in a great YA novel.
For me it was this book that really perked up my curiosity!
The idea of Cress being the modern era Rapunzel locked in a settallite and being the queen's designated hacker is just amazing! All the girl's stories are going forward while you can see the whole story building up towards the final installment.
Marissa Meyer pays attention to describe the delicate realationships between all the characters. And not just the romantic ones but the fragile frindships and dependence on each other aboard the Rampion.
I also love the way that the 'princesses' all have to fight their way for their personal victories besides the grand war they're in. They have to discover pretty bad secrets in their past and have to find themselves to be able to help the others.
In this book I adored the relationship between Cress and Thorne! It was funny, awkward but endearingly honest and I think they're might become my favourites, but Scarlet and Wolf also have dynamics that're just captivating!
I really suggest it to anyone who loves YA novels!
