A slightly dark and creepy atmosphere, children who hear voices, and see a little girl observing them… A young woman who has not yet mourned his little daughter who died in a house fire few years ago, a vicar recently arrived in the village, a village that seems suspicious from the start, with odd traditions. The atmosphere is laid, and I like it.
However, I found the story long… very long… I was pretty bored during my reading. Even if I wanted to always know more, I have not managed to completely immerse myself into the story, nor to attach myself to the characters. I did not appreciate the relationship between the vicar and the psychologist. It was a little weird from the beginning…
And I must admit that the end did not really satisfy me, I saw it coming, and I’m not extremely fan of all these revelations.
In short, a thriller that starts with a few touches of supernatural but ends in a rather traditional way. I can not say I liked or hated this book but I was a little disappointed.

Une atmosphère un peu sombre, des enfants qui entendent des voix, et voient une petite fille les observer… Une jeune femme qui n’a toujours pas fait le deuil de sa petite fille décédée dans l’incendie de sa maison il y a quelques années, un prêtre fraîchement arrivé dans le village, un village qui nous semble louche dès le départ, et des traditions villageoises un peu particulières. L’ambiance est posée, et elle me plaît.
Cependant, j’ai trouvé le récit long… très long… je me suis pas mal ennuyée lors de ma lecture. Même si j’avais envie de toujours en savoir plus je n’ai pas réussi à m’immerger complètement dans l’histoire. Ni à m’attacher aux personnages. Je n’ai pas apprécier la relation entre le révérant/prêtre et la psychologue. Une relation un peu bizarre.
Et je dois avouer que la fin ne m’a pas vraiment satisfaite, je l’ai un peu vu venir, et je ne suis pas extrêmement fan de toutes ces révélations.
En bref, un thriller qui commence par quelques touches de surnaturels mais qui finit de manière assez banale. Je ne peux pas dire que j’ai aimé ou détesté ce roman mais c’est une petite déception
