harc 's review for:
The Austere Academy
by Lemony Snicket
This book had always been a highlight in the series for me. For some reason, as a young teen, I really loved the setting of this book but most of all, it was a breath of fresh air after the previous book.
The Quagmire Triplets were a wonderful addition and it really felt like the Baudelaire's had something good in their lives again. Sure, the rules of the Academy were stupid and they still had woe and hardships but there was more hope within this book.
Of course, Count Olaf reappears again. His disguise as a gym teacher was honestly genius because what is more evil than that?
Also, this is the book that introduces us to the V.F.D so it feels like things are really kicking off now. I love the mystery behind the V.F.D and the small clues/hints that are thrown our way this books onwards.
It was such a delight to 're-read' this book (since I listened to Audiobook) and I'm glad this is the last one that Lemony Snicket narrated 'cause I missed Tim Curry's magic lol
