Temper
by Layne Fargo
This book tried to be very dark and very psychological. Yes, it’s about obsession, manipulation, emotional abuse and the tension between the characters is well executed. However, their motifs are not. I didn’t get it why everyone here was so obsessed with Malcolm, it wasn’t that believable. And that is a rather huge complaint given that this book is basically plotless in the sense that the central focus of the plot is just following main characters who are just so obsessed with getting Malcolm’s approval. Yeah. We don’t really get anything beside that which would’ve been fine had he been a better written character. With that being said, I cannot really give this book more than 3 stars. I might round it up to 3,5 because it’s a debut and as for the first novel, it’s quite an impressive achivement and brave topic to go with.
