Survive the Night by Riley Sager

adventurous dark mysterious medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix

3.0

Yes, the rumors are true. I finally did not fall head over heels for a Sager book. As much as I usually LOOOOVE his other books, Survive the Night ended up falling a little short for me.

I did not end up loving Charlie as the main character or how she was written. Although I did enjoy how the entire book took place in, pretty much, a single timeline and setting. I thought it was a clever way to write the book to feel like we were also experiencing one long, dark night on the road. The story had enough twists to keep me reading with nice, short chapters that kept things moving and feeling as hectic as the story seemed. Although a little predictable or “huh??” at times, I do think the consistent plot and character twists made this one okay.

Read if you:
Like film references or want a thriller very clearly written to be movie-like, want a fast thrilling read centered around a mysterious killer on the loose, or just are like me and want to make your way through everything Riley Sager writes.
