This was a fun read! Very short, which I needed right now as a filler book in between Libby holds, and with a very satisfying ending. One of my favorite parts was how neatly everything wraps up at the end. There are a couple different mysteries going on, and they all get wrapped up in a bow by the time the book finishes. It made it a very digestible book. I am also a fan of how the book would switch between characters and timelines, leaving the reader questioning who the new character is, until a little piece of info gets dropped that explains how they fit into the overall mystery and plot. It was just very fun getting to piece it all together as the book progressed. I also like how it misled the reader on certain things, like who murdered the art teacher, until it does the big reveal of who the killer actually was.
It was also very entertaining to me how much this book lived up to its name. Like oh boy there were definitely some strange pictures in this book! I just liked how much they were incorporated into every one of the small mysteries and plot lines. I also didn’t realize I could have been looking at the pictures, since I was listening to the audiobook, but the book did a good enough job of describing them that I didn’t feel confused or anything.
My one criticism of this book was the goofy, Sherlock Holmes type deductions people were making. I get with mystery stories it has to happen sometimes, but no, a child drawing a rectangle does not mean his mom is hitting him. Like that’s reading into things a little too much.
Overall, I liked how well done this book was, and would definitely recommend it.
