Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
3.0
3.5 stars.
I enjoyed this book. It had the fantasy, a slice of romance (without anyone getting undressed thanks goodness), and it's own world. I can best describe how good something is through how I feel and 3 words to describe this book would be; fleeting, thrilling and easy.
It transported me to another world, let alone time and place, as well as gave me some of the thrill I was seeking in a good ol' fantasy book. What I didn't like however was how easy a read this was. Sure, it had some complex and vividly descriptive words but I felt it didn't really add to the storyline itself as I felt it was underdeveloped. I would've loved a little more depth into the other characters and a bit more relationship building between some.
I can't help but feel (and hope) that perhaps I missed something in the book thats making me feel this way but i just needed something more of... substance.
This book felt like quick calories as in; it was REALLY enjoyable to consume yet it didn't leave a deep impression and wasn't anything more than it looked like.
I still like this book and will most likely continue reading the series :)
