Bloodshed Academy: Year One by Jen L. Grey

5.0

Bloodshed Academy Year 1 is the first book in Jen L. Grey’s new paranormal academy series. Meet Raven, a wolf shifter is preparing for the end of high school and the things that will come with it. Her boyfriend is excited at the prospects of being recruited to Bloodshed Academy, and she’s looking forward to the break that will come from him being gone. Well, all of that gets thrown upside down when she finds herself being the one that the recruiter was coming for. Her boyfriend isn't pleased, but there is no saying "no" to Bloodshed Academy.
Bloodshed Academy is probably my favorite book by this author. The characters are well done and my attention was captured from the very beginning. Raven is a shifter, but she can't connect with her wolf and that is causing her control problems. Add in that jerk she has for a boyfriend and well...life just isn't that great. There is a lot going on in this book and I loved every second of it. You get that spark that something is up between Raven and another character when they make an appearance in the story and it just fueled me to delve deeper into the storyline. I love the twists, the secrets, and the surprises. I'm eager to learn what is next in store for the next book because I'm really hoping that some secrets come to light and soon.
If I had to say anything that I don't like about this book? Well, there wouldn't be a thing that I could say. This story is well balanced and a real page-turner. I will warn readers of this...there is sex in this book. Two different scenes. The author does not ever become explicit or overly-detailed, but for those who prefer to skip the sex...sorry...there is no "fade to black - use your imagination." LOL!
All in all, I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. It's a must-read in my book and I'm eagerly anticipating the next book in this series.
