I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to continuing on with the series.  A lot of attention is put into world building, at times perhaps a little too much. There's a pretty sizeable character list and quite a few of them are frustratingly nefarious.  I'm not sure all the characters are necessary, but they do add to the drama and overall plot if that makes sense.

Our FMC is an interesting mix of characteristics that I can't quite decide how I feel about.  Her few moments of stubbornness come across as bratty impetuousness.  And she seems to seesaw back and forth on her feelings for our MMC.  I don't hate her and I remain hopeful for how she fleshes out as the series continues.

Our MMC is a sexy AF and tortured Fae so, pretty much irresistible. A little overbearing but in a way that works for the story. No complaints.

The supporting cast is really well done, especially our fearsome five that guard Ellysetta.  They're probably my favorite characters.

All in all it's a good book that packs a lot of information to build a pretty solid foundation for a fantasy series.  I look forward to continuing it.
