This book was decent. It was emotional but something is just missing for me.

There were many quotes in the book that made me tear up about Greta’s mum dying. You could really feel the missing presence on their trip and how everyone was kinda skirting around mentioning her name as the emotions were still raw.
Tbh I’m even shocked at how calm and put together everyone was acting, idk I feel like if I were Greta I would be crying and not able to come out of my room due to everything reminding me of her.

I liked all the characters but they also aren’t explored that much in depth. So basically I could have despised them but I just didn’t know any of their flaws or traits. Greta was just average but not annoying which is good. I liked Ben as a character but he was a bit over the top and stereotypical at times, but I could look past that as I wanted to read the romance.

Actually there is one character I don’t like, and that’s Conrad (greta’s dad).

I don’t like the fact that this cruise has somehow magically repaired the damage in their relationship. From what I read it sounded like he was a horrible dad to her. Just plain rude, unsupportive, and blind to what Greta truly wants out of life.

To me it seemed like too much of a big thing to just brush off with an apology on a cruise. Imagine if Greta had really taken the things her dad had said to heart, she would be living a life that made her miserable instead of fulfilling her potential and living a life of her dreams.

Yeah so I just don’t understand how Greta has forgiven him and that everything is normal now. I understand that she apologised from her end about writing that song that destroyed their relationship even further, but I think that song was warranted.

I was emotional reading the stuff about her mum but then when it came to Conrad and Greta the book didn’t really make me feel anything.

Another thing I didn’t really get was the whole having a meltdown on stage drama.
So from what I understand her fans weren’t mad at her at all and were actually just concerned about her wellbeing, it was only the critics who had something negative to say.
So I just don’t get why Greta just didn’t fully explain that she was dealing with grief and that it’s all just part of being human.
I understand how that must be humiliating but I don’t understand why it was being called “a career ending moment” when I’m sure it wasn’t. Like if my favourite singer broke down crying in the middle of a performance I’d want to support her, not make fun of her or anything.

But I do like how at the end she’s found peace with singing again. Although I was left a little unsatisfied as like I said it does feel like a big fuss over something that didn’t mean anything.
I was also disappointed about the romance but I understand I don’t need to read a marriage and baby HEA all the time.
