This was the first Meg Cabot book I've read in years. I was such a fan of the Princess Diaries series growing up but fell off when I decided I don't want to read YA books anymore. But I picked this up mainly for the book cover design and the fact that it was written by Meg Cabot. And this story is very much a Meg Cabot story. We get the quirky but neutral main character and she meets the super hot guy and then they go on an adventure and of course fall in love and then the main girl solves her main problems neatly with a bow on top and lives happily with the main guy. So this story wasn't bad, but it was just neatly done. This story does deal with tougher topics like sexual assault and survivor blame but it doesn't go into details and ends with a resolve the survivor handles. It's still an overall feel good read and not meant to be super deep and depressing. I would say this is a very vanilla read that it is generally pleasant for most readers and just a good beach read story.
