The Traitor's Ruin by Erin Beaty
4.0

So Erin Beaty is clearly an author I need to start following a little more closely in future.

Not only was the Traitor's Ruin an excellent second book in the trilogy (no second book syndrome here folks!) but it was excellent in its own right. We had some cool new characters come in to play, an incredibly rich and detailed plot, and Sage is just the freaking best character! Are you sick of reading about heroines who make dumb decisions, and you're constantly going "NO! Why did you do that?" then Sage is the girl for you! She's smart, a little emotional, but practical, and bad-ass. Admittedly it makes her come across as older than 17/18 (more like mid to late twenties) but she was just so cool. Reading back over my review for book 1, clearly Beaty was going for character growth across her books, and man she did it well.

My main issue was really how the book wrapped up - it was a little too neat and cliche. Apart from that, there were only some niggling issues, like a few bits were predictable, and it wasn't the most original plot, but it was nonetheless done very well.

If you haven't read the Traitor's Kiss yet, give it a go!
