Craven Manor
by Darcy Coates
dark
mysterious
tense
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
Strong character development:
Complicated
Loveable characters:
Complicated
Diverse cast of characters:
No
Flaws of characters a main focus:
Yes
Very strong start, I immediately connected with the main character, and the setting is impeccably moody.
The conflict, however, gets frustrating. The main characters' flaws of believing certain characters and being way too trusting passes what I think a typical reader would consider acceptable. It's soap-opera levels of loyalty to a certain character that does not deserve it in anyway, and it makes the climax feel ENTIRABLY preventable.
