Murder on the Red River
by Marcie R. Rendon
I'm not sure I would classify this as a murder mystery. Yes there was a murder but the mystery was so far in the background that it seemed weird when it popped back up at the end. I didn't mind Cash but the amount of time that Cash's smoking and drinking habits took over the entirety of this 200 page book was astonishing. I also just struggled with how any of the events connected to one another or fit with a story. The focus on Indigenous families being ripped apart through various means felt important but the rest of the book was pretty subpar.
