sjbozich 's review for:
Until August
by Gabriel García Márquez
Not his best.
But worth publishing, and reading.
Editor Cristobal Pera (who also edited the "I'm Not Going To Give A Speech" collection) explains why this was worth publishing, and what he had to work with.
Nice twist at the end. But there are also some inconsistencies in the novella, which Pera and the family chose to keep in.
A lot of fun to follow what she is reading - which I imagine is what Garcia Marquez read as well. From a Spanish picaresque novella (I bought it on Amazon), to Ray Bradbury (she was not surprised by the ending to the short story).
Read as an ebook - 79 pp, of which only about 50 is the text.
4 out of 5.
