Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

3.75

In all honesty, I’m procrastinating studying for my exam tomorrow but I am quite conflicted with my review on this one. I enjoyed the writing style and Flynn’s ability to create a convincing and unique character is undeniable.  I feel that a lot of wattpad published writers think that their characters are as vivid as hers just by say «  oh so and so was extremely intelligent and dangerous » . Basically all tell no show. But Ms Gillian new how to make a character appear intimidating or funny. She also knows how to write two different point of views and making them both distinct. My biggest quack is with the vulgarity. As a well known philosopher said « no more saying cuss words guy. It is inappropriate and violent ». I am half joking when I say this; maybe I was too young to read it (16 going on 17). I mean i understand it’s about adults and marital issues and so on but i feel there was a plethora ( if you forgot the definition of plethora: a very large amount of something, especially a larger amount than you need, want, or can deal with ) of them plus sexual themes. I do realise that it’s most likely a me problem but as I said the craft of characters is twenty times better than a book made for adolescents and can’t really find the perfect balance for me.
