My feelings on this book are complicated.

I think it was great a writer in 2007 was pushing  for a queer romance and listening to her talk in interviews about her ongoing struggle to include gay characters in her novels in part because of her gay son.

However, there were moments that made me wince. I know you can’t look at a book published 15 years ago and expect it to hold up to today’s standards but there were still hard parts of this book.

I also think this was more of a series of vignettes than an actual novel.

That being said I’m glad this existed and what it may have mean to queer people reading it 2007.
