The Atomic Times: My H-Bomb Year at the Pacific Proving Ground by Michael Harris

4.0

A gripping tale of the birth of the Atomic Age

Michael Harris's book is a riveting account of his experiences during some of the first atomic bomb tests after WWII. It's humor doesn't soften the grim reality of life on Eniwetok island, but does serve as a welcome counterpoint to the seriousness that the subject demands. My only quibble is that I found the language and phrasing to be a bit awkward at times, but that did not detract from my enjoyment of the book.
