Frustrating read because I enjoy Jane Austen as a writer but this was just very disappointing. The characters felt like caricatures of the qualities they represent and the lack of nuance made the story overly reductive in its debate of social manners. In the context of this being Austen's first novel, I definitely see how she's grown from this and how the themes so prevalent in all of her novels have evolved. But I just had such a hard time with the story progression because it felt like we were dancing around the problem for most of the novel and we rushed through the evolution in the last two chapters which felt more like an epilogue.
