This book is genius. The comparisons so Herman Hesse's Siddhartha are unfair, because Siddhartha sucks, and this book is a running hodgepodge of different nihilistic scenes as witnessed by the queen nihilist, Rubisima.
This book matches well with Grendel. I'd say to read it in Spanish, but I didn't because I can't. The protagonist would rob me blind, stab me in my ample stomach, and leave me to die on the side of the road. She's the real literary baddie.
All joking aside, this is a series of vignettes that critique Colombian society at.the time if its writing. I wish Caicedo had refrained from suicide until after he wrote a couple more books.
