The Body Under the Piano by Marthe Jocelyn

4.0

“I will tell first about making a new friend and save the dead body for later. This follows the traditional rules of storytelling—lull the reader with pleasant scenery and
lively dialogue, introduce a few appealing characters, and then—aha!—discover a corpse!”

Talk about an opening!

This was such a fun story! A perfect MG mystery that makes Agatha Christie accessible for young readers.

The characters are simply lovely. The mystery, while not overly complicated (I was right in my conclusions of the villain!), was intriguing.

Aggie’s inner 12-year-old thought processing was hilarious and yet so accurate, and I love Grannie Jane.

Can’t wait to read book 2!
