St. Peter's Fair by Ellis Peters

4.0

Benedictine Abbey Fair in 1139 in Shrewsbury, England near Wales. The setting is a turbulent time with hostilities between King Stephen and the would be Empress Maud. Brother Cadfael is needed to sort out the murder of a wealthy merchant and other subsequent misdeeds. The sheriff takes in the merchant ‘s lovely daughter for the duration of the Fair. Always a good read.
